Bikini Briefings

Do you love Bikini shopping or does the idea of trying on swimsuits fill you with dread? Is it possible to loose 10lbs in a week? Can you buy a 'tummy tuck' at Sainsbury's yet?

Don't panic! With a few general rules and a positive mindset swimsuit shopping will hold no fear for you.

  • Be Bikini Body Positive. 70% of looking good is feeling good. Be kind to yourself: book that wax, spend a little on some pedicure goodies, experiment with self tans, buy some new accessorys. Moisturize, exfoliate ...pamper!
  • Swimsuit Sizing. Swimsuit manufacturers are a cruel race, seemingly unable to decide on a universal standard sizing. You may feel like a slender UK size 12 and find yourself wearing this seasons XL swimsuit but don't despair you didn't really grow 3 sizes overnight. What this does mean is that you are safest buying swimwear that offers a dress sizing equivalent guide or an actual bust, waist or hip measurement. Any good internet store will ensure it is easy for you to return or exchange any swimwear you are unhappy with.
  • Shape Sorter. Depending on your body shape you may want to consider different styles of swimwear.
    • Pear - if you are a classic pear shape it helps to be able to choose bikini pants and tops in different sizes. When choosing a swimsuit or bikini try and draw the eye to the upper body and shoulders using halter styling or trim tops with detail. Reverse your Moontide reversible bikini and wear the darker colour on the bottom and the lighter colour on top.
    • Apple - If you are generally the same shape from hip to bust try emphasising the waist and the curves of your hips and bust. Patterned, swirly or detailed fabrics keep the eye busy and emphasise the hips and bust.
    • Melons - If you are small on the hip in relation to your bust size try adding details such as belts, sarongs or mini wraps to highlight your hips. Choose a bikini top which will be supportive as well as comfortable and buying separates can be a great way to get the sizing you need.
    • Fruit Salad - a bit of everything. If you have a trim waist and well proportioned bust and hips we are all jealous! You can wear any bikini or swimsuit you like.

So get the most out of your bikini or swimwear. Choose carefully and accessorize with sarongs, mini wraps, big beach jewellery, flip flops, bandanas, sunglasses and beach bags creating a different look and feel each day.

We have to admit to being biased towards the Moontide reversible range when we worked out that two bikinis in complementary colours could be mixed and matched into 16 different outfits - beat that bikini babes!

If your swimsuit fits well, looks good and performs, you will feel comfortable and confident in it and you'll look great anywhere - have a great holiday.
